My place of work is having such a hard time finding people that are qualified to apply for our open Sanitarian I position. You get to work from home when you're not in the field doing inspections, schedule can be flexible if you have kids, the manager is the sweetest and treats us like her own kids, and once you get into the field you are very rarely bored. I just did an inspection where I caught an undeclared allergen (which can kill people) on food that has a 1 year shelf-life and was distributed to like 80 grocery stores in my state. Work like this is really fulfilling and challenging, if that's your thing.
It's the government so the pay sucks in the beginning if you aren't licensed yet, but gets better once you pass your licensing exam. To sit for the licensing exam you need a bachelor's degree with at least 30 hours in sciences. If you qualify for the licensing exam and live in the area (or would be willing to move here), send me a chat!
