i feel like what people consider black or african american is getting more blurry each day cause i genuinely thought this was a white woman.
i’m nigerian/ghanaian american so i have very limited knowledge of the intricacies of creole identity so please educate me if i am missing something
Chile I saw that and as someone that has Louisiana Creole Heritage on both sides it was kinda of a let’s go touch grass moment. Because as far as complexion and phenotypes it’s a spectrum. I have an aunt that resembles her and she gets teased by her siblings at time and is called white girl (not saying it’s right). So it reminded me of that. But yeah never gave her background a second thought because again I have relatives that look like her. I recognized there is a difference between ethnicity, race, and heritage. For me, I am a brown skinned woman and grew up in the south so I never thought of identifying anything else but black because no one has ever questioned my existence. So yeah I don’t know what that creator is really going through but I guess it’s crazy that people are pulling out receipts to prove they ain’t Dolezal’n it through the black existence. Long story short, TikTok ain’t worth the stress and crying over internet strangers is crazy to me.
