Maybe it’s because I’m an introvert or something but I feel like a token black character in my own life (I’m black and queer btw).

Two of my roommates are white and the other is poc but male.

I’m like one out of two black folks at my job, and we don’t really interact because she’s FOH and I’m BOH (I’ve tried talking with her before but she kinda brushes me off 🤷🏾‍♀️)

I’m currently taking online classes so I don’t really talk to my classmates or anything, and my siblings live on the other side of the country so I barely see them—basically I just feel incredibly lonely without deep black relationships.

I’ve been trying to confront this loneliness and try and deal with it like an adult but it’s been really hard.

Lately I’ve been thinking about joining my college’s black student club or lgbt club but I’m anxious that 1. The lgbt club will center whiteness, and 2. The black student club will cater to misogynoir or homophobia/transphobia or male centric issues.

Has anyone here found a way to build relationships with other black women/black fems in this type of situation?
