Maybe itās because Iām an introvert or something but I feel like a token black character in my own life (Iām black and queer btw).
Two of my roommates are white and the other is poc but male.
Iām like one out of two black folks at my job, and we donāt really interact because sheās FOH and Iām BOH (Iāve tried talking with her before but she kinda brushes me off š¤·š¾āāļø)
Iām currently taking online classes so I donāt really talk to my classmates or anything, and my siblings live on the other side of the country so I barely see themābasically I just feel incredibly lonely without deep black relationships.
Iāve been trying to confront this loneliness and try and deal with it like an adult but itās been really hard.
Lately Iāve been thinking about joining my collegeās black student club or lgbt club but Iām anxious that 1. The lgbt club will center whiteness, and 2. The black student club will cater to misogynoir or homophobia/transphobia or male centric issues.
Has anyone here found a way to build relationships with other black women/black fems in this type of situation?
