Burning cards
Post Body

I am a novice Blackjack player, meaning I'm still learning. I was at the casino the other night, and noticed the dealers were burning the first card of a new shoe, and when a new dealer took over. I asked the dealer why this was, and they said it was to throw off the card counters. Which brings me to the reason for this post. Does it actually throw off the card counters? Or is it more or less giving the casino a false sense of security?
