Is this game worth buying if I don't plan on spending more money?

Hey all, I don't currently have the game but I can't figure out whether or not to buy it. It looks clean and like a lot of fun. However, I have seen a lot of stuff saying that unless I plan on spending more money it is going to feel awful. I know that its all pay for "convenience" but at the same time is almost necessary to enjoy my time playing the game.
That's all I have to ask. Please be brutally honest lol!
