I have been having this problem for a while now. I did not start getting frustrated about it will I had to save new UI characters for a new class and it was not letting me. Had to basically set my UI EVERYTIME I switched characters.

Googled around the internet and found no real good resolution for this so me and my buddy decided to troubleshoot for about 30 minutes and we figured out a couple of solutions depending on what is going on in your system

One simple reason why this could be happening to you is because your Black Desert folder in Documents is set as "Read-Only" so it is not letting you write new files to that folder at all. YOu'll probably get an error in game as well saying unable to load the GameOptions.txt file. Simple fix for that is right clicking the black desert folder and going to PROPERTIES and un-check that box that says "Read-Only" then click apply and OK.

If you are still having troubles and the folders goes BACK to Red-Only, that is when you have to go check your Antivirus or Security program that is running. I am Running Bit-defender 2018 which comes with Ransomwareprotection. You'll want to go to that program settings and either turn Ransomeware protection off (Highly un-recommended ), or simply find the Black Desert.exe and Black Desert Luncher and set it to ALLOW these programs to make changes to your Documents, Pictures, Video, etc... Folders... That's what fixed it for me and now I am able to save my game settings, UI settings, and screenshots again.

I hope this helps people who have been having this problem and future people who unfortunately still plays this game and unfortunately has this problem as well. If you guys continue to have problems, please use this post to try to get it resolved and share your solutions so others are aware.
