Post Body

My Loki boy loves his cheeks being rubbed and without fail has to give my hand a thorough licking, complete with kissynibbles. I've never had a cat do this, although my folks had a pony that would lick you silly and I had a rat who damn near dissolved me. I was wondering how common of a behaviour it is and what we think their rationale is. Do they think we can't groom ourselves properly and they're mothering us? Is it simply a show of affection or familial acceptance (with rats, they groom you to show they've adopted you into their mischief(collective noun for rat colonies) and they view you basically as their significant other)? I'd love your thoughts.
