First time cat owner. Iā€™m confused because I heard belly rubs were traps.

I had one who absolutely loved it, too.

Would lay purring on his back on my lap for it.

Time to trim his nails? Purring on his back on my lap throughout with belly rubs in-between paws.

Even when he once had a boil in his arm pit and the vet who emptied it instructed me to rinse the wound 2-3 times per day for a week, he learned to recognize the equipment for that and would jump up on my lap and relax on his back for that.

I loved that cat so much. He was such a lovely cat in every way. Writing this makes me very sad that he's gone.

Actually, I've never had a cat who wouldn't allow a belly rub but I wouldn't risk it with a random cat unless they are very easy to read as relaxed and fine with it.

Thank you.

It's been three years. It's not fresh. I just miss him.
