How long should I wait to compete?

Hey family,
Been thinking about competing in the future and I want to know how long you guys think is enough time to train before competing. I know this is more up to me and how I feel but I'm just curious as to what you think. I've been training only a couple months, but I was thinking about trying a competition towards the end of summer (the 6/7 month mark).
What do you guys think?
