A brown belt told me its better to focus on a few techniques and be relentless with them and thats what makes people good especially at comps. I always like learning lots of techniques and always thought it was good as you can switch from technique to technique and not force anything. But I think he maybe right in that sometimes I have so many techniques in my mind that I hesitate with the technique I want to use. Also how much time do you higher belt purple-black belts take to experiment with techniques in rolls vs perfecting existing techniques?
