Hi everyone,
Today, I ran my first BJJ class for adults, ranging from white belts to 4-stripe blue belts. I decided to focus on transitions and submissions from the north-south position.Specifically, I covered the transition from north-south to the back, a kimura from north-south, and finishing the north-south choke. The class seemed to go well, and after a 30-minute drill session, we spent another 30 minutes sparring and preparing some teammates for an upcoming competition.
My question is: How do you usually determine what techniques to teach in a class? I was asked by my coach to run the class and was excited to do so, but I found myself browsing through YouTube, wondering if the techniques I chose would be appropriate and beneficial for all attendees.
For those of you who teach, what's your process for planning a class? How do you ensure the techniques make sense and are useful for everyone present?
Thanks for your insights
