Hey all, I’m a white belt, approximately 10 classes in. My schedule is sporadic as I’m a paramedic and I work 24-48hr shifts. I try to do 2-3 classes a week, but sometimes work kicks my ass or gets in my way. That said, there’s an in-house tournament in my area and my wife and I want to enroll. I have no illusions about winning anything, and we’re trying this out specifically to hammer out weaknesses, and to meet more people in our community. That said, our lessons haven’t covered take downs just yet. I’m 220lbs, 6’0 and I’ve been lifting weights for 20 years. (31m) I can hold my own decently in the rolls I’ve had due to the strength gap and the tiny bit of technique I’ve picked up so far, but obviously I have a long way to go. What are some good things to keep in mind for our first tournament? Is there anything I should train or focus on in the few days left? Thank you all in advance!
