I have been training for almost a year, I am a white belt, 1 stripe but my coach has essentially said that in December I will he getting my 2nd stripe.
I do well against other white belts and have had some luck against a couple blue belts, but all my prevailing is essentially the equivalent of tripping down a flight of stairs and then landing on my feet at the bottom.
I have a lot of difficulty at applying more than one thing I am working on. For example I have been working on closed guard lately, escaping and retaining which has noticeably improved.
Last month I worked a lot on headquarters and was doing quite well, but it was pointed out to me that during this month when I was in a headquarters scenario I was not applying what I had been working on last month, and I realised this happens whenever I focus on specific areas.
It feels as if my brain is full on capacity and when I learn new things it rewrites previous things I have learned.
It should be noted that I have ADHD, but I dont know how much that plays a role. Does anyone else have experience with the mental barriers I am struggling with?
I would also like to note I have encountered the same types of barriers in professional environments. I work construction and struggle to excel in multiple complex tasks over a long period of time when my work is versatile but demands high quality.
