Just recently got my blue belt, I've mainly only trained in the Gi with the occasional no gi, and I want to take a different approach. I want to train no gi more often and eventually compete. Especially want to learn defense for this game because every time someone gets me in a leg entanglement, I'm lost and afraid of losing a knee. ( Previously torn meniscus) Assuming best way to learn defense is by learning offense.
My question is, what is the best guard for me to learn heel hooks? I'm 6'4 but I cannot express how much I lack flexibility. In the Gi, I play Closed Guard (most a top game player) Thinking of learning butterfly guard but want some opinions for a not so flexible guy.
I do have access to:
- LegLocks: Enter the System by John Danaher (Just started Watching)
- Gary tonon: Breaking legs and breaking hearts
- Craig jones and Lachlan Giles Instructionals etc..
