I’m bored. Name a recreational drug you are interested in learning about the synthesis of and I will explain common synthetic pathways, specific details about the reactions, and answer any questions you have about it.
I have synthesized many recreational drugs, mostly psychedelics. Over the years I’ve developed what I feel is a decent understanding of chemistry and would like to provide some actually useful, well thought out commentary on some of the syntheses on this sub. I am not formally trained as a chemist, there are still gaps in my understanding, if you hit me with some really obscure stuff you might stump me.
Ask stupid questions I won’t criticize.
Edit: Wow lots of stuff! I will get to all of it but it’s going to take me quite a while so sorry if I don’t respond to you for a day or two!
Edit 2: I was not anticipating over 100 comments in less than like two hours hahaha. This is going to take me a while but I’ve made a commitment and I am sticking to it! Sorry if you don’t get a response for quite a while.
Barbiturates are fairly accessible and so is GHB/GBL. Quaaludes are... doable. Not easy if you're not a South African with access to black market o-Toluidine & Anthrilic acid. But doable. Execution wise, anyway. Precursors are fucky depending on where you are.
That's the thing people forget when it comes to This Whole Thing: It's not just about following a recipe or even understanding the chemistry -- A lot is just the sheer footwork involved.
3MMC, seems like it'd be very useful.
ArcLightShroom has a step by step writeup. It's decently straightforward.
Downside is that it requires Acetic Anhydride.
Some steps need to be done under red light or it'll decompose but idk anything beyond that

Good news. LSD synthesis is actually easier today than it was in the 60s both in terms of execution and precursors. Nowhere near entry level. But it's doable without going to class potentially maybe.
