Hey guys,
I've recently got a job offer for a post-doc at the University of Minnesota (St. Paul campus)! Real excited about the job, but I'm hesitant about the unknown... Some specific unknowns: How's the gay scene (especially for a masculine bi guy)? How about gay/bi acceptance?
I'm coming from VT - I can handle the cold of MN and I've been to St. Paul a bunch growing up (my grandmother lived a mile from the campus). I haven't been in the area since I've grown up though - any recommendations about living/playing near campus or the Twin Cities?
I also have a lot of relatives in the area... good because I've loved my visits with them, but it could be bad because they're all really conservative. I've made a lot of progress coming out over the last year, and am hoping me moving to a new place doesn't force me back into the closet. On the plus-side, I'll be moving after Obama wins the presidency again (so I wont have to talk politics as much), but it'll be hard dating/living my life around them. Anyone ever go through something like this before?
Thanks!
