So I got into a discussion with an acquaintance. I was kind of frustrated when I went into a lesbian bar and a group of girls were saying biphobic (and transphobic stuff). I'm bi and nonbinary (I go by he/she/they). I see myself as a girl or a boy at times. This has also happened in a few gay bars I went to. I told a lesbian acquaintance of mine about this and they responded "If I didn't like it then maybe I should make my own bar for my "people". It made me think to myself why don't we have an exclusive space for bi people? We have lesbian bars and gay bars, but sifting through the hatred can be tiresome and disheartening for many. Not to mention sometimes I want to explore both men and women in one sitting; I hate having to hop from bar to bar. And going to a straight bar is great until they find out you are bi...then here comes the biphobia.
I was thinking of some names to go with it and other suggestions. The Lemon Bar lol was a cute one my friend gave me. I was also wondering: how would you all feel about a Bi bar? I was thinking having one to start in the San Fran area (where it is more LGBTQ friendly). But I want to start in an area that isn't as expensive to rent or own property. Any ideas would be helpful.
