I was watching the show with my stepdaughter and Jerome Squalor, the Baudelaire orphans' guardian in The Ersatz Elevator and who was married to villain Esme Squalor, appears again on The Penultimate Peril. This time, he has a boyfriend and 'love of his life'- Charles from The Miserable Mill!

I nearly jumped off the couch when he delivered that line. Never have I ever seen a canonically, openly bi/pansexual character in a kids/family show! Lately some shows have been more gay-friendly, including ASOUE, but you know, bi erasure, so I was 100% not expecting this!

I should also mention, my stepdaughter (who is 8) literally did not bat an eye at this revelation.
