Hi all,
This is last time I will be posting about this, I promise. Still really hoping to get some more bisexual men represented in my study. If you have 15-20 minutes to spare, I would sincerely appreciate it. Cheers!
The survey is fairly brief (approx. 15-20 minutes) and there are two compensation options: (1) enter email for chance to win a $10, $15, or $25 amazon gift card or (2) donate $5 to charity (international Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, and Intersex Association (IGLA).
This research examines the effects of early family environment - specifically aspects of heterosexism - on current psychological wellbeing and experiences of shame in gay and bisexual men. Importantly, this research examines the moderating (i.e., buffering) role of parental acceptance in conjunction with the mediating variables (i.e., factors that are triggered or set off by stigmatizing experiences) of internalized heterosexism and perceived sexual stigma, factors which have been implicated in the adverse mental health outcomes and experiences of shame in sexual minority men.
If you are interested in completing or reading more about the survey, the consent from (including a description of the study) and the survey itself can be found here: https://uvic.ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_cIUvQkXhG7Z1KK1
I really REALLY appreciate everyone who has already participated (nearly 200 people, which is amazing) and look forward to sharing the results at the end of all this!
If you have any questions before or after completing the survey, please do not hesitate to contact me through reddit or my University of Victoria email gberlin[at]uvic.ca.
If you would like to verify this project with the Human Research Ethics Board they can be reached at ethics[at]uvic.ca (the HREB# for this project is 18-1079).
Have a great week!
