Trust vs hook-up culture

Slowely but surely coming out I (35m) am very shy and emotionally insecure.
I burried my bisexuality in the past due to traumatic events and am now slowly regaining the confidence to engage with other men and trans-people.
It took me two years of building up the trust for my first gay sex. But the gay hook-up culture seems extremly fast-paced (especially around Berlin).
Can any of you relate to the emotional support and trust needed? How did you navigate your desires vs your need for security?
