Part of the aim of the conference is to try to end disrepectful or disenfranchising experiences for birth parents by eliminating stigma and treating birthparents with the same "unconditional positive regard" traditionally afforded to adoptive parents. My SO (who will be speaking with me) and I had a wonderful experience with our agency. Those of you who had less positive experiences, would you be comfortable sharing your stories? I am particularly interested in anyone who dealt with a for-profit agency, as another goal of the conference is to emphasize the need for funding for humane nonprofits. Obviously, I will not disclose any personal details. Thank you!
