I know today is not very happy for most of us because we are usually not acknowledged as mothers. But I know that I am am a mother with every fiber of my being and, not only that, but I know that I am a good mother because I love my daughter and did everything that I could to make sure she lived the best life possible.
Of course, I am not always the best birthmother. I am not always sure what being a birthmother actually means. I have not always made the best decisions when it comes to my relationship with my daughter and her APs. I am by far not a perfect birtmother. Good thing today is not Birthmother's Day, eh? : )
Except, guess what? My mother is not perfect, either. And my grandmother is batshit crazy. And I love both of them with all my heart.
That is the beauty of being a mother. You are human and not expected to be perfect and despite not being perfect, and sometimes because of it, you are loved by your children.
I know my daughter loves me. And that is enough.
Although it would be nice to hear from her today. Last year she sent me a text that said "Happy Mother's Day." It was the first time I had ever heard anything from her on a Mother's Day and it made me cry. I hope to hear from her again today but I am not holding my breath. Anywayze...
Happy Mother's Day to all of you!
Despite what others may say, you are all mothers and, not only that, you are all excellent examples of what motherhood is all about. Know that and take comfort in it. If anyone tries to tell you an different, just tell them the story of Kind Solomon and the two women fighting over the same child, both claiming to be his mother. That should shut anyone the fuck up about whether you are a real mom or not. : )
And, of course, feel free to PM me if you need to talk.
I love all of you and appreciate you for being here! <3
