16 STRAIGHT YEARS/BIRTHDAYS SPENT IN A CELL ππΎ MAY 30th MARKS MY LAST BIRTHDAY SPENT BEHIND BARSπͺππΎ
The Department of Corrections does not officially acknowledge birthdays, but a meaningful and unexpected celebration took place for me recently. While on the yard, I was called back in to a surprise birthday song by the entire room, organized by Officer Price. It was a touching and memorable moment, especially as it coincided with Officer Price's last shift before the officers' rotation. .( All the officers rotate every six months ). Also, me and my cell mate are going to see if we got enough funds to make Some type of Birthday cheesecake or regular birthday cake and or, burritos or nachos ( prayers we make that happen ππΎππΎ )
, its bittersweet As my incarceration of 16 years draws to close with less than 4 weeks remaining, I find myself reflecting on the profound personal changes I have undergone during my time in prison. Approaching my 34th birthday, I am reminded of my past and the remarkable transformation that has unfolded within me.
Upon my entry into the system at 18 with 20 years ahead of me , I was plagued by anger and frustration. However, over the years, I have embraced Christianity and surrendered to God. This shift in perspective has afforded me the ability to experience peace, joy, and a profound sense of purpose, even within the confines of prison.
Anticipating my impending release i, I am profoundly grateful for the spiritual growth I have experienced and the newfound understanding of the power of faith. Despite the challenges I have confronted, I am brimming with hope for the future and the opportunities that await me beyond these walls as I'll never spend a another birthday locked in a cell
Confident in the deliverance and grace of God, I eagerly anticipate the next chapter of my life with optimism and gratitude. I extend my thanks for everybody kind words and understanding as I prepare to transition back into society . #AlmostHOME
