I made my appointment to get the Mirena IUD today!!! I scheduled it with Planned Parenthood and it was super easy - call, make the appointment with some basic instructions, and show up. I think the receptionist was floored when I mentioned that I didn't have insurace and she told me it was $600, so what? Well, it's way cheaper than actually having children or an emergency abortion, am I right?
I'm so excited. This means I won't have to worry about getting Depo every 3 months and getting osteoporosis by the time I'm 28. AND I'll be childfree until I actually have insurance that will cover a tubal/ablation/total hysterectomy/something to be fixed forever! I know this isn't as big as getting fixed but it's a fix for now. My appointment isn't until the 15th of February so the anticipation is killing me.
Any advice for me?
My concerns are:
I'll be getting it inserted Monday and going back to school Wednesday, is this stupid?
I'm driving myself and PP is an hour and a half away, should I have someone drive me back?
I was instructed to take 800 mg of Ibuprofen 30 minutes before my appointment. Since I'm sure I'll be waiting for some time after my appointment, should I wait until I get there?
Anything I'm missing? Thanks in advance for any advice/cheers/kudos!
