I’m currently not on any birth control, but due to the election I’m looking back into it. However, I have had nothing but issues (which is why I’m not on any bc)
I have had two IUDs, both have been Kyleena. Inserted by 2 different doctors. Both times I have had issues. The first IUD made sex super painful and toward the end of it I started having extreme abdomen pain and bloating.
Got it removed, 8 months later had my second Kyleena placed. 4 months in I was bloated with constant UTIs and abdominal pain, sex was excruciating and my partner could still feel it during sex. I took it out myself after 6 months because of suicidal ideation. Immediately the cramping, pain during sex, and utis stopped.
I now use FAM to avoid pregnancy and my partner is very supportive of it, but I’m considering getting another IUD.
That being said, what would be my best bet for an IUD? I’m not open to other kinds of bc. I already have extremely heavy periods so the copper is something I haven’t considered. I do not have insurance so I can’t ask my gyno for their recommendations, but when/if I get another placed I’ll of course go over everything then.
