I recently got off depo shot as it led me to gain 40 pounds over just two years, and it was impossible to lose. Within a few weeks of my missed shot, I immediately started losing weight. I lost 15 pounds within around 4 weeks, with very little dietary changes. I got the kyleena IUD inserted a week or so ago, as both the company and the doctor claimed that less than 5% of people experienced weight gain on it (had I known this was a common side effect I would not have used it).
As of now, I was thinking about it and if it's the same hormone, how could one cause so much weight gain and the other none? In looking on this page, I found a couple of older threads about people who have experienced significant weight gain on it. But I know people don't generally reply to those posts if they had a positive experience (yes, I know it's different for everyone).
I really don't want that awful pain to have been for nothing, and I enjoy not getting a period. But if I'm going to gain all this weight back and more, it's not worth it. Just looking to see what others have experienced, maybe to ease my mind or help me build up the courage to remove it.
