Taking a break from continuous birth control

Post Body

I've taken continuous birth control (Slinda) for nearly two years and since last week I've had heavier breakthrough bleeding that won't go away after 1/2 days as usual. I'm considering having a period to see if it kind of resets it but I was wondering because until now I've always taken the active pills (never taking the sugar ones) if it's safe to now take the sugar ones at the end of the cycle or if it'll make the pill lose the effect

Would appreciate some advice
