So basically the title. In the last 15 years i tried a bunch of different methods.
I have been on 3 different types of birth control pills. They all give me a lot of side effects of which the most improtant ones were weight gain, acne, low libido and just feeling 'heavy' mentally. From what i read most of these side effects are estrogen related. So a birth control shot or patch would probably give similar side effects. A birth control ring also contains estrogen, so im not really hopeful.
I tried the implanon implant since it doesnt have estrogen only a progestogen. It gave me a lot of acne, 3 week periods with only one normal week in between and also influenced my mood.
I cannot get a copper IUD, since im very sensitive to copper in general. Copper already itches when i touch it with my hands, im not even going to try placing that in my body.
I got an Kyleena IUD a couple of weeks ago, since that only has a progestogenso no estrogen. And it contains a lot less hormones than a birth control implant. So i was hopeful. Unfortunately I was one of the unlucky 'less than 1%' of women who got an infection from the insertion. I had a lot of problems getting the doctor to take me seriously. Long story short, they didnt take me seriously, and due to mistakes on his part I ended up having to get the IUD removed.
I might be open to get another IUD in about 6-12 of months at a different clinic. But not now.
I dont want children, my partner and I already use condoms, but dont trust them fully.
I would like to get sterilised, but I've already been told that that will be a very hard procedure to get approved for due to my age and me not already having children 🙄 paternalistic bullshit.
So for the coming few months up to a year i feel that im out of options. What I decided for now is condoms and i already have a plan B in my medicine cabinet in case i need it.
Is there something im missing? I feel like im stuck, so maybe someone here has an idea.
