Post Body

Hi everyone! I’ve seen lots of different experiences with different birth controls on here so I wanted to talk about mine (I’m 22, no kids). I started taking Sprintec when I was 16 and had no issues for about 4 years. Then, they decided to no longer carry it up until they reproduced it this past year. In that time gap, I tried Blisovi Fe (pill), Mono-linyah, nuvaring, Kyleena IUD, and finally the Paraguard copper IUD. Buckle up, folks.

Blisovi: weight gain and acne within two weeks. Stopped it after a month.

Mono-linyah: weight gain, mood swings, non-stop break through bleeding. Stopped after two months.

Nuvaring: break through bleeding and just wasn’t extremely happy with putting it in and taking it out.

Kyleena: weight gain (30lbs over the span of two years after losing 100 lbs), mood swings like crazy, the most painful acne that was followed with acne scaring, anddd lactation without being pregnant, but no periods! Yay!

After trying spironolactone for acne and trying to be positive after having Kyleena for 2 years, I was over it. I was DONE with the hormones. Discussed the few options I had with my Gyno and landed on the Paraguard IUD. Kyleena removal was just as painful was insertion and Paraguard insertion was worse than both of those from the scar tissue (Xanax was required to even get me in the office). Here I am 3 months in with Paraguard and actually enjoying it! Periods are heavier and I get bloated during them but I don’t feel like crap all the time.

Hope this helps someone
