Blackbirds

Wife and I have been bird feeding/watching for decades, but we noticed something recently that we had never seen before. Grackles have started coming to our platform feeder and leaving things, mainly twigs and grass. They leave something then take food. They have been doing it over and over. I know crows are known to leave gifts but never heard of grackles doing this . Is this a behavior of all blackbirds?
