As the title says, I found a baby owl, well, I heard my dog barking and she wouldn't shut up when I told her so I went to see what's up, and there she is just barking down at a small baby owl.
She may have bitten the owl, I hope not, but if she has it's not visible. In my excitement I grabbed a pair of gloves and picked the owl up and put it somewhere my dog couldn't reach it, the owl tried to (maybe?) fly away, but I'm guessing it's too young to do so? I put it back and it hasn't moved from there.
I then went to the internet and looked it up, first thing I read was just to leave them do what they do, not interact with them, too late for that :/
I'm wondering if I just let it go it will be able to live and stuff, but I'm not too sure, I put a small bowl of water next to him but then read they don't drink water and get their fluids from blood in meat, I've asked a family member to go off and buy some meat for it.
I've also read that it is illegal to tame owls without a liscence, but here I am on the verge of taming it (always admired falconry, would be cool to tame it) (reading up about taming right now) and just letting it go (where it could possibly die).
No offence to birds and stuff but I'm not going to call a vet because the bird's life is not worth the vet's fee imo.
Here I am really wanting to tame it now, should I or not, what should I do?
Edit: thanks for your tips and stuff, I was planning on calling a wildlife center today, but I left it outside overnight in an enclosed (kind of) area so my dog or other wild animals can't get to it, and came back this morning with the owl gone, so I guess it somehow got away which is good, I'm guessing the owl is fine. Thanks for the responses :)
