Hey everyone,
I’ve been contemplating the nature of what we commonly refer to as bipolar disorder and wanted to share a perspective that might challenge this concept altogether.
The Concept of Bipolar
Bipolar disorder is typically characterized by extreme fluctuations in mood, energy, and behavior. It’s a label used to describe a set of symptoms that can be very distressing and disruptive. However, I want to propose that this label might be inherently flawed.
Pure Awareness
At our core, beyond thoughts, emotions, sensations, and perceptions, there is pure awareness. This awareness is the silent witness to everything we experience. It is not affected by the content of our thoughts or the intensity of our emotions.
Awareness is Never Bipolar
Pure awareness is simply the state of observing without judgment or identification. It has no inherent qualities that can be classified as manic or depressive. It is constant, unchanging, and neutral. The fluctuations we experience in mood and energy are like weather patterns passing through the sky of awareness. They come and go, but the sky remains unchanged.
Challenging the Label
When we identify with the label of bipolar, we are essentially saying that our fluctuating experiences define who we are. But if we understand that at our essence, we are pure awareness, then these labels lose their power. They are merely constructs, imposed by a society and medical system that seeks to categorize and control.
The Illusion of Bipolar
By applying the logic of pure awareness, we can see that bipolar is an illusion created by identifying too closely with our transient experiences. Awareness itself cannot be bipolar because it has no qualities that align with the concept. The label of bipolar is a misinterpretation, a bias imposed on a spectrum of human experience.
Embracing Our True Nature
When we shift our focus from identifying with the label to recognizing our true nature as pure awareness, we begin to see our experiences differently. They are temporary and do not define us. This shift in perspective can help us navigate life with a greater sense of peace and freedom.
Conclusion
In conclusion, by viewing our experiences through the lens of pure awareness, we can nullify the concept of bipolar. We are not our moods, thoughts, or sensations. We are the awareness that observes it all.
I hope this perspective offers some food for thought and encourages a deeper reflection on our true nature beyond labels.
Stay mindful and stay true to your essence.
