I just have a quick question. I take 3 doses of lithium a day. One in the morning, one mid day and 2 at night. Normally when I have my blood work done, I take my lithium as usual the morning of my labs, even fasting labs. And normally they come back as a 0.9.
This time though, my psych specifically told me NOT to take the morning dose before my labs. I thought it was strange but he very clearly insisted. They came back as a 0.6.
I see him tomorrow, and I'm going to bring this up, but I am simply confused. Was I always not supposed to take the morning dose? Or, as it makes sense in my head, should I have taken it to have the labs reflect what is usually the amount in my blood?
If it's the latter, what do I say to him? And why all of a sudden was it important for me not to take it when I've taken it every other time? (I guess you wouldn't know what he's thinking one way or another though lol)
I must add that other lab work was done that day. Thyroid and glucose and lipid panel, but they are usually what gets done with the lithium taken anyway. Could lithium throw one of those?
So what do you all do before labs? Thanks for any help in advance.
