For a long time, seroquel WAS my magic medicine. A change in dose here and there would get me back to stable or at least close. That's not the case anymore and it hasn't been for a good long while now. I'm bipolar 1 but I'd say my symptoms are a toned down mania. Maybe we could call it hypo. I won't get into details about the symptoms. Anyway, the doc keeps raising my dose of seroquel. Every time I feel great for about 2 months and then the symptoms slowly return. I'm also on Lithium, Lamictal and an anxiety med. So today, my doctor raised my dose of seroquel to 800mg per day (That's the max dose!) 1 hundred in the morning. 1 hundred in the afternoon and 600 at night. I do NOT want to be on that much medicine! And I was at 700 before now and symptoms have been breaking through. I just can't seem to get him to understand that I think I'm on too much and I'd really like to try a lower dose of anything else.
I know you guys aren't doctors. I'm not looking for medical advice, just advice on how to handle the situation. I've literally said I think I'm on too much and he just doesn't agree. Or should I trust his judgement?
Has anyone else had this problem, being stuck on a medicine because it seems like your psych wants to force it to work?
Thanks for reading this. It helped make me feel a little better just putting my thoughts into words.
