I’m selective about disclosing my diagnosis to people in recovery especially after doing so to someone who effectively ghosted me after the fact.
But in trying to share less directly about MH struggles, I’m really tapped out with people telling me to just pray and have it lifted in response. A. It’s unsolicited advice which should be qualified (ie you ask someone if they’d like your take before expressing it). B. Last I checked, God won’t rebalance my brain chemistry. Medication will and that’s still in the trial/error phase but totally fucked in light of current events, sleep, stress and massive disruptions to my therapy and wellbeing activities.
Don’t mean to offend anyone who DOES believe God will adjust their brain chemistry but I personally am just fucked off by repeatedly hearing that suggestion.
Rant over.
