Mania Recurrence Rates
Post Body

If a patient were to

  • stay on their medications
  • take care of their physical well-being
  • visit psychologists and psychiatrists as-recommended

what might their odds of experiencing a recurrence of full-blown or psychotic mania be? If this describes you, what has your experience been over time?

Undiagnosed and, therefore, untreated I have had two breakdowns (one depressive; one manic with psychotic features). Today, I am both diagnosed and treated, accepting of the illness and the responsibility entailed, and hopeful not to experience psychotic mania or maybe not even full-blown mania ever again or at least not for a very long time. Any thoughts about how realistic this is?
