I just got my degree in molecular biology, and I’m interviewing with a few companies doing research on COVID-19. Of course my new so my job is basically changing out culture media all day so it’s not like I’m a doctor or anything, but my dream since I was in high school was to work on science that would save lives and make life better for all of us.
Now that all this anti-vax and climate crisis denial shit is happening I’m questioning that goal.
Why should I dedicate my life to creating technology that helps us better survive if it’s gonna be called a Jewish communist conspiracy created to turn children into half serpent gay satanists?
If I could be a part of the team that cures cancer (for a hyperbolic example) in our soon-to-be pollution ravaged world they will just say “IDK TRUMP SAID THE JEWS MADE IT!” And this new great creation will just sit on the shelf slowly reaching expiration.
So what’s the point? If the world wants to die so bad I don’t think the very few of us who don’t want that can stop it.
