How will future generations of cats and dogs evolve?

Post Body

We humans have bred cats and dogs for thousands of years. From what I've understood, it might have begun as a mutual relationship. At least with dogs, where wolves helped the humans to hunt in order to be rewarded with food and shelter. Eventually came dogs, descendants of the wolf, who where more docile and arguably less effective hunters. The modern house cat still possess 'the killer instinct'. My late cat used to hunt every chance he got, even though we gave him food, while most dogs seem to have lost this behaviour. Is this because we have bred dogs longer than cats? What will happen to future generations of either species? Will they completely lose their ability to hunt, since we provide the food for them?
