Lately I have been unsatisfied as a software developer, just tring to find the right field to focus on. I have been interested in bionics for a long time now, but I would likely need a biomedical engineering degree. The only places in Canada where a bionics career seems likely is Vancouver, and Toronto, and for personal reasons moving to those cities is not an option anytime soon.
I stumbled upon bioinformatics, and although it's not bionics, the biology field is still really interesting, and my passion in computer science has been databases and analysis, so it feels like a nice blend. Likely 2 years to complete a bioinformatics degree assuming most of my computer science courses carry over, and I'm not sure how essential a Masters degree would be. I don't care about the money, I'd rather be doing something I'm passionate about.
Has anyone else come from this position or have any advice while I'm looking into this further?

the extra courses is probably a good idea. Luckily my girlfriend is in immunology so I can practice communication with her lol
