Mealworms as CUC in ball Python bioactive

So I had a brain fart and forgot to buy isopods and springtails while at the reptile store yesterday but while at the regular pet store I did pick up meal worms as I read they make fairly decent cuc. Someone on Facebook told me to remove them because they are a bad idea. I’m curious if anyone else has used them or if they’d potentially harm my snake at all while as larva or fully grown beetles?
