Casual sports fans root for dynasties because dynasties represent certain eras in our lives, and we cling on to time as long as possible

Watching guys like LeBron and Curry made me realize this, speaking as a gen z fan. We root for them to do well in the playoffs because to us, they represent our formidable years and nostalgia. We don’t want this era of our life to pass us by, and if Bron/Curry/CP3/etc look washed and are eliminated early by the younger stars, it effectively ends the era in our lives we associate with them.
