I've been experimenting with three main systems over the course of a year now: fractional ball aiming, center to edge increments, and the ghost ball method.
All are stellar ways to simplify the difficult process of knowing how to cut a ball into a pocket, but the problem is they're not consistent.
Or at least I'M not consistent in recognizing whether to use a 1/4, 1/2, or 3/4 cut when using fractional measurements, how to judge center to edge portions on even routine cuts, or how to properly visualize the ghost ball.
It's all so difficult and confusing to me, mainly because when shooting, regardless of which system I'm using, I often feel like I'm aiming in the right way and sending the cue ball down the correct path, but still I keep missing cuts that I know I should be making with ease.
With that being said, I'm sadly aware that there's no magic spell for aiming, no shortcut to perfection. I know that I'll be missing for a while and that the only way to ultimately turn the frustrating tide is to shoot ball after ball thousands and thousands of times.
But, surely, there has to be an easier way to train cuts, right? There has to be one system that I can practice over and over again and find success with that's proven to be leagues better than the others.
In your opinion, which system is that?
