I’m currently in a gap year program preparing for law school admissions, and I’m confident about my chances of getting into a T14 law school based on my profile and how others from my college have fared. My ultimate goal is to work in Big Law.
Right now, I have student loans, and the fellowship I’m in barely covers basic living expenses, especially living in NYC. To save money and pay down my loans before law school, I’ve been exploring other options. Since I’ve focused a lot on physical fitness, a few club managers have suggested I work as a bartender or go-go dancer, as these jobs could provide a significant financial boost.
However, I’m concerned about the potential long-term impact of this kind of work. While I wouldn’t be naked, the roles are highly sexualized, and there’s a possibility that photos or content from these settings could surface. Would future employers in Big Law view this negatively, or is it something they likely wouldn’t care about?
TL;DR: Considering bartending or go-go dancing to save money during a gap years before law school. Would a highly sexualized job (while not involving nudity) and potential photos from the club environment negatively impact future Big Law employment opportunities?
Edit: I do not intend to list it on my resume
