Have an offer from an AmLaw 200 firm and an offer from an AmLaw 100 firm. I think the AmLaw 200 firm is a better cultural fit for me, will more directly apply my preexisting experience, and actually is paying a little bit better than the AmLaw 100 firm. I’m also just really tired of working for jerk partners.
I’m having a really terrible time making a decision and am basically just procrastinating at this point. I think I’m leaning toward the AmLaw 200 firm, but there’s about a 60-ranking spread between the two firms on the AmLaw scale. If I go with the smaller firm now, how much is it damaging my future career prospects if I make another move in the future?
For what it’s worth, I’m nearing partnership eligibility. If I reach partnership eligibility at an AmLaw 200 firm, does that pretty much preclude me from ever making an upward climb into the AmLaw 100?
