So a month ago I developed a crack in my aluminum frame. I bring it to the LBS which happens to be an authorized Giant dealer. They take the bike in order to process the warranty, leaving me without wheels all this time. Today I receive an email informing me of the following:
Hello is the response from Giant I received and the options available. We do have some older frames, but not with a matching fork, and the older ones have different cable routing, We have that available as an option. We can also offer a $200 credit toward the purchase of an entirely new bicycle.
So essentially they could give me a yet unnamed color frame, of what year I haven't a clue, and then rebuild the bike with my current fork. This is the official manufacturer response and the LBS basically assumes no responsibility for any of this. No loaner, no other compensation, nothing. Monday makes 5 weeks since this all started.
Is this typical in the bicycle world? Do I just have shitty service from my LBS? Am I looking at it the wrong way? I'm raging out pretty hard right now.
