Traveling and renting a bike: bring your own wheels?
Post Body

Heading to Maui in a few weeks and I was going to bring my own bike, but American Airlines wants almost $500 to bring it round trip (and BikeFlights is actually worse), so I'm going to rent a Tarmac SL4 Elite but it looks like they have pretty basic wheels. I'm not even sure they'll allow it, but if they did, would you think it's worth bringing my own wheels since I have nice carbon deep-sections? Would you?
