I had a horrendous start to my day. My bike, my mean, Giant Nursing machine had been stolen from my building today. I rent in a block of flats with a secure bike shed at the back within the grounds of the building. This area can only be accessed via keyfobs so I assumed it's a fairly safe place to store my bikes. Both my bikes have lockings skewers and Dlocks on them. This morning, as I was about to go to work, I found out that my road bike was missing. The fucker even took my Dlock with him.
I am a district nurse and this is my main mode of transport to see patients in their own homes. I knew this is a risk, and there's always a chance that my bike will get stolen but it just sucks!
Ranting a bit as no one in my office can relate to my current situation. One guy even told me "oh it's ok. It's just a bike... How much was it? £50?"
Edit: I was hoping I'd have another Christmas ride with that bastard before I upgrade.
Edit: I got my bike back!! Talking to the police at the present moment. I saw my bike in front of McDonald's and I put my Dlock on it then called the police
Edit: got surrounded by teenagers who was claiming it's their mate's bike! How could I know that it's mine and there are many like it. I said no, mate. I built that bike from the ground up! I can recognise it easily! Very pleased with how the police officers handled this. Kudos to the Met. I'm surprised that I got very decent response time considering that they are as short staffed and overworked as us nurses. With as much paper work to do
