After years of wanting, I finally brought myself a road bike 2-3 weeks ago. I've gone from falling over even trying to get on the damn thing, let alone moving, to tearing across the countryside in my first sprint triathlon yesterday and having a blast.
My only problem is toe clips. The most expensive bike I could afford on my budget was about £350 so no clipless pedals (I can't afford to upgrade at the minute either). I'm having real trouble getting my feet in the damned things!
Quite often i'll have to flip the pedals over and ride on the no-clip underside of the pedals for a good few minutes while struggling to get each foot in in-turn, resulting in me driving down the road having to focus on my feet, which really isn't great!
Do toe-clips just suck? Or is there some arcane technique to learn?
TLDR: I am not a clever man. Out-smarted by toeclips.
