...so that I could close the wound my 9 month-old chomped out of my right nipple with his razor teeth. That way I could pump and it would stay closed and healing while the milk comes out next to it. Otherwise every time I pump it breaks open and gets bigger and never heals.
My husband says, "You mean a band aid?"
derp. Yes. Yes, a bandaid. Yes those are a thing.
Update: Thanks everyone for suggesting the nipple shield! I went out and got one and LO chopped down on it hard, then wailed when it wasn't his trusty soft 'ol nipple. I even finessed it full of milk and tried to dribble the milk out of the holes all over his face as he thrashed around, but he by that time decided it was not giving him what he wanted. I'll try it on him again later when he's in a better mood...
Then I thought I'd try it pumping, and it seemed to work like a charm at first, no pain! But then I noticed no milk was coming out either. I might have the wrong size or I might just need to try again, maybe repositioning it? Has anybody successfully pumped with a nipple shield, are there tricks to it??
