So our kid is 6 months old and we have never posted any pictures of him on the internet, anywhere, and we ask all of our family not to do it to protect his privacy. I know I'm glad there aren't pictures of me all over the internet. I assumed my little guy would want to decide for himself what the world sees of him.
But then I saw somebody's post about future generations just looking at facebook to see their genealogy. And that actually seems really cool. Am I doing it wrong? Perhaps by the time he grows up, every aspect of every person's life that he's ever met will have been publicized all over the internet forever and it will be a normal thing to be "exposed". Maybe he'll be the odd-man out, maybe he'll be annoyed that everybody else has this long rich history with comments from friends and family, and all we have are some pictures on our phones that never went anywhere, were never put into any sort of context or time line.
...Is this sort of like my friend's parents not letting my friend play video games as a kid because they were convinced it would rot his brain, and now we all think that was absurd?
What do you think, mommas and daddies?
